Ivey triumphs in Night One of Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Making the trip to his home track, Trent Ivey unloaded his No. 88 Longhorn Chassis at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Friday afternoon for the first night of the annual Mike Duvall Memorial with the Southern All Stars.
With 32 Late Models signed in, Trent laid down the second-fastest lap in qualifying which locked him into the 30-lap main event later on in the evening. Slipping past Donald McIntosh on lap five, Ivey led the remaining 25-laps to collect the $5,000 payday in his second victory at the track in 2023. In his first-career SAS triumph, Trent topped Chris Ferguson, Ben Watkins, Anthony Sanders, and Jordan Koehler who completed the Top-5.
Looking to sweep the weekend on Saturday, Trent found himself with a flat tire during his qualifying lap which relegated him to a 18th-place starting position. For the $12,000-to-win finale, Ivey stormed through the field and wound up just off the podium in fourth.
