Trent Ivey notches Top-5 finish with World of Outlaws
Defending his home turf against the stars of the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, Trent Ivey made the short trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Thursday afternoon for the rescheduled Rock Gault Memorial. Drawing 33 cars, Trent clocked in fifth fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race. With the redraw placing him sixth on the starting grid for the $40,000-to-win main event, Ivey improved two spots in the talent-laden field to register an impressive fourth-place finish. The following night at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for Charlie Mize Memorial, Ivey’s sixth-place finish in his heat race pinned him 17th on the starting grid for the main event. With $10,000 on the line, Trent passed five cars in the 40-lapper to finish 12th.
Back in action at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Sunday afternoon for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series-sanctioned Hall of Fame 50, Trent ran a steady pace throughout the 40-lap feature to cross the line in sixth.
