Trent Ivey lands podium finish in Rock Gault Memorial opener

Trent Ivey returned to the familiar Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Friday afternoon to test the waters with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series as the Rock Gault Memorial weekend came to life. With the 43-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Ivey timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying group before placing second in his heat behind Jimmy Owens. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in third via the redraw, Trent held his spot for the entire distance of the 25-lapper to register a third-place finish, trailing Jimmy Owens and Jonathan Davenport across the line with Tim McCreadie and Brent Larson rounding out the Top-5.
