Trent Ivey was one of 35 Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals series entries on hand at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) to kick off the 12-race tour. Following the 10th fastest time in his qualifying group, Ivey logged a seventh place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Failing to place second or better, Trent was granted a provisional into the opening night feature. With $10,053 on the line, Ivey completed two laps before heading pitside.

Friday night saw Trent Ivey return to action at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for the Ultimate Southeast Series-sanctioned Charlie Mize Memorial. After laying down the second fastest time in his group behind John Henderson, Trent was an early retiree from the 41-lap feature on the second lap.

The following night at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.), Ivey recorded the fifth fastest time in his group, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win A-Main.
