Trent Ivey was one of 69 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries signed in at the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, North Carolina) on Thursday night for the Can-Am World Finals. With Mother Nature shortening qualifying to one round, Ivey followed up the 11th fastest time on his first lap with the 15th fastest time.
Starting in fourth in his heat race on Friday, Ivey dropped one spot to place 5th. Needing a 2nd place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Trent came two spots short with a 4th place finish. (TDW Photography)
The following night, Trent fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a 4th place finish. Transferring the Top 2 out of the B-Main, Ivey streaked to a 10-lap consolation victory which positioned him 20th on the starting grid for the main event. With $12,000 on the line, Trent was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 22.
